Tag games session II

As the Wednesday before we kept presenting our tag games and putting them into practice.
We made a different activity to warm-up but also taking into account children's creativity. This time we were asked to choose any kind of material we wanted and to use it with a partner while jogging around the court. This approach to warming-up was surprising for me since I had never done something similar before. It worked very good with us, notwithstanding, not all the schools can offer all the materials we have at university and this fact could limit the possibilities of this type of warming-up.

Afterwards, we continued presenting the tag-games we had developed. I began the session with my activity which was called "all against one". It worked very good since all the class participated and they agreed that they also had have fun. TO be honest I have to say that I think that I have an advantage with this activity as I had already played the game before both as a teacher and as a pupil. Therefore, I knew some basic things that helped me to carry it out properly. Nonetheless, I would also like to say that each class is different and what works well with some students might not work for others.
Moreover, some other students presented their games which were something very interesting because some of them I did not know them, for instance, football without ball. I think that this was my favourite because Maria dealt very well with the class and explained herself good. Not to forget that the game was both challenging and funny at the same time.

From my point of view, the whole session helped us to understand some important points in order to become good PE teachers. First of all, we have to be able to adapt games so as to achieve the objectives but we also should have the ability to change the games at the moment if we think that we can improve them according to that concrete situation. Secondly, space is very important and we should know how to handle it, because not all the games require the same space. Finally, before explaining a game we have to catch pupil's attention and this is not only to make them understand the rules of the game but also to motivate them.
