Interdisciplinarity session II

As the previous practical class, this session was split in two different parts: the first one devoted to perception and decision taking activities and the second devoted to keeping presenting the interdisciplinary activities.
Perception and decision taking are two topics that can be overlooked when first thinking about physical education. However, both are really important for the development of the child and they are connected.
th it. It is crucial not to forget that there are five senses, because most of the times only sight is taken into account and the others are put aside. Consequently, we should set activities whose focus varies from one sense to the others. The activities we did in class were very good examples of this idea, since the child had to pay attention to the different information coming from his senses in order to be able to achieve the purpose of the game. In addition, the games we carried out, not only did promote perception, but also other important aspects such as attention or confidence. From my point of view, this is a key so as to provide the child a whole education which is based on all the domains and not only in the motor one.

On the other hand, decision taking is also an important issue regarding interaction with the reality as the person should choose the best option once the context has been analyzed. Therefore, decision taking combines a set of skills which are crucial in the process and that ought to be acquired along the childhood. The activities of decision taking were similar to the ones about perception in the sense that they also promote other aspects such as the social domain.

That day we also did two interdisciplinary activities which did not introduce new ideas to learn but they allowed us to remember some things. One of them was that even though one game is very good, it is not suitable for physical education unless it promotes physical activity. The other one is that in some games there is no need to catch the opponents and thus the game is stopped. This is a problem that has arisen several times when designing the games. In order to avoid it, it is important to fix a motivation for the children to catch their mates. Another solution as that the teacher establishes turns and the catchers role is performed one at a time. This leads again to the importance of the planning of the activities. Teachers should think about all the details of the game and try to imagine how it would be in the practice. Otherwise, the class would be a mess and the objectives wouldn't be achieved.
